The Glass Demon

News

Prize nomination:
The Glass Demon was nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2011 alongside books by Rick Riordan, Alex Scarrow, Patrick Ness, Michael Morpurgo, Marcus Sedgwick and Carol Ann Duffy, among others.

The Carnegie Medal is awarded to an author of an outstanding book for children, every year. Last year Helen's first novel, The Vanishing of Katharina Linden, was shortlisted.

Helen's new novel The Glass Demon was published by Penguin UK in May, 2010.

Praise for the book:
"I absolutely loved The Glass Demon. It is incredibly spooky, but also a brilliant novel of family life. The atmosphere is quite Grimms' fairy tales—but also incredibly modern. I found it impossible to put down."
—Helen Fraser, MD of Penguin UK

Praise for Helen's debut novel, The Vanishing of Katharina Linden:
"This fascinating debut novel veers off in an unexpected direction and Grant steers it with impressive skill...a richly textured, effortlessly written novel with an impeccable sense of place and characterisation."
   —The Sunday Telegraph
